I'm wanting to join the seabees. If available, will I receive a contract specifically for a seabee rate?

This is a point blank question for the Recruiter as my experience is surely dated. Bottom line, your test scores, experience, aptitude, etc. AND the needs of the Navy need to be matched up. Back in my day, there were Seabee designated recruits going through Boot Camp. Same went for aviation. On the college side, just be aware that any engineering "technology" program does not qualify for obtaining a professional engineer license later on. Good luck son.....

I'm just curious, as I'd wanted my stepson to go that route at one point (he didn't want to, obviously, though I did try to explain why, given that he's construction union, I thought it might well be a good fit for him)...I'd just wondered...have you done any construction technology training thus far, assocs, bachelors? Also, had you also looked at USAF Prime Beef (their equivalent under civil engrg), or Army or USMC combat engineers as well? Not that it matters, of course, as I'd said, I'd merely wondered, many thanks....

Hey thanks for the comment. I have quite a bit of experience in the construction field (as much as a 24 year old can have) mainly from building my own 600 sq/ft house for my wife and I. I've also done freelance projects and remodels. That's why I felt being a Builder in the Seabees would be a good fit. I honestly havent done a ton of research into the other branches engineering jobs. What drew me to the seabees was their history, they seem to be well respected, and I'm into sailing so it only seemed fitting to join the Navy.
