Can a previous DODMERB (AFROTC) disqualification stop me from doing ROTC in the Army?

My freshman year of college I participated in AFROTC. I was released from the program due to DODMERB disqualification. I’m allergic to shellfish.
I decided to enlist in the Army. I’m going to enroll in school again. I was hoping to join ROTC (Army).
Unfortunately, I was told by the detachment commander that my previous DODMERB disqualification may carry over. Which ultimately may bar me from participating in ROTC again, despite already being enlisted.
Has anyone heard of an issue like this? What are my odds? I’m waiting to hear back from the detachment commander but it’s been a couple days since we talked.

THe only way to find out is to apply and put in for a waiver. You do had the Allergy shots that are regular injections over a period of time — generally around three to five years — to stop or reduce allergy attacks?

Roger. I just ask because the detachment commander made it seem as if I wouldn’t even be able to get to that point. Having already been denied a waiver to continue in the AFROTC program. I’m not sure about the shots either. I do know that there is no way to stop food allergies though.

I think since the rotc cadets have to conduct a dodmerb as well so I could see it carrying over as well. You never know.
