I am currently going to college for a Japanese major. Can I get stationed in Japan when I re-enlist?

Depends on your MOS. I know there is a Signal Battalion there. If your admin, Military Intelligence, or a computer tech, then you can get there, but ensure you talk to your reenlistment NCO.

The Army will probably send you to Korea at some point. You can take leave and jump on an hour long flight to Japan. I'm not too sure about PCSing to Japan. I've never met a soldier who got stationed there. I know that it's not uncommon for Marines to get Japan.

That is an Option 4 OCONUS reenlistment option.

Option 4 - Overseas Assignment
Reenlistment options are designed to meet the personal desires of the Soldier and to fulfill the needs of the Army.

It would probably depend on your MOS and whether or not the Army wants to spend the money to PCS you over there. I don't know what you call them in the Army, but I would suggest you talk to your monitor or have your career planner talk to him or her for you.

If are active duty, and your MOS has vacancies for an assignment in Japan, and the assignment is available to you as a re-enlistment option, then yes. Your college major has nothing to do with it though. See your Retention NCO.
