Learn about the Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance (DEA) program. If you’re the child or spouse of a Veteran or service member who has died, is captured or missing, or has disabilities, you may be able to get help paying for school or job training through the DEA program—also called Chapter 35. Find out if you’re eligible for this benefit

Those states often do that for post 9/11 service. Not sure how they get away with discrimination against the older vets and our children. Maybe its time for a lawsuit. :).

One more note - your State VSO's are available by county. Each office has its own operation. The one I used in NY constantly lied to me. The one I used in Charlotte was excellent.

Some states also offer dependents in your situation tuition free education in state universities.

Sgt George Anderson - Well crap. Check this site out. https://www.caregiver.va.gov/ I am going to make a strong assumption she qualifies for VA Caregiver funds.

SPC Richard Zacke - Glad I can be of assistance. My wife gets $1000/month to take care of my sorry ass. I am at 70%, so I will make an assumption she would get more. Do you have PTSD?

MAJ Ken LandgrenPTSD not documented was worried about losing 2nd amendment rights...I broke my back on active duty. I've had 9 lumbar surgeries, 2 cervical surgeries, 2 rotator cuff surgeries, so far 1 knee surgery, 1 dorsal bi-cepts surgery. And my 10th lumbar surgery was a new special type called a Interbody Obliquk Lumbar Fusion with stem cells that took approval from The White House. I became 100% in 1994 and my wife took care of me since then...over 25 years. I did not know about this care taker Fund but my wife did mention it years ago and I told her it did not exist, STUDID!!!
