Looking for feedback from people who have done defense, security, private contracting.
Is it a difficult field to get inside? What kind of person would you recommend it to? Was your experience positive or negative?

Do you mean work for a defense contractor, and if so, what kind? (Large, small, type of work, etc.). I can give you some positives and negatives if I know a little more about what you have in mind.

I think he means overseas contracting because that's what troops see.

Though most contractors work in the US like everyone else.

A bit of both. Personal/Exec security stateside, but possibly even overseas contracting. It's a massive field, but I'm simply looking at options you know?

SPC(P) Andre Oliva - I just did a quick look at usajobs.gov and there's a whole bunch of announcements for security officers at various places in the government. Depending on your qualifications, I think there are a lot of security firms in cities, and a lot of jobs. And there's also things like border patrol. I am pretty good at helping military people hone their resumes for the private world. If you will connect with me here, I'll give you an email address and will be glad to help you when you get ready. At no charge, of course.
