Previously I was lead to believe that I was going to Fort Sam, but HRC had other plans, regardless of MACP being in full effect...Can anyone tell me about how it is being a Combat Medic(68w) in 1st Cav?

Lots of time in the motorpool, the Field and 9 month rotations to either Korea, Kuwait, Poland and a bunch of Ntc rotations.

The National Training Center at Fort Irwin California. Basically in the middle of nowhere so Armor Brigades can train before various rotations and missions.

Being a medic in any unit is what you make of it. When I became a medic, I just knew I was going to a hospital. Ended up infantry. Yeah we stayed in the field but the comradery and experience are second to none. It definitely prepares you for the rest of your career. Go to every school they offer you. When you think you’re ready, go to flight medic school. Best job ever!

I was a medic for 4-10 CAV and let me tell you scouts are a trip. Doing the Spur Ride with them is one of my favorite Army memories.
