How does one become a certified master fitness trainer?

I know by rank certain people obtain the role, however isn’t there a class soldiers have to attend in order to become certified? My 1SG just named a 1LT certified because she’s female. I’m not sure why he didn’t use any of the female NCO’s in our company. I’m 90% sure she hasn’t taken a class because she taped me wrong. I was 158lbs and 33% beginning of April (still wrong) and was taped again 30 days later at 153lbs but 34%. I got a second opinion from a senior NCO in a different company who is certified and she taped me at 32% in a matter of hours...In AR 600-9 it says nothing about officers anywhere so is this even allowed?

MFT is a school..!!! Can’t be certified unless you have attended the class..!!!

You are correct. It is a class. Do you think she taped you wrong because you were that percentage and then now, you're at 32%? Just a professional question. Not saying you are. Did she tape you in the right areas? Did she use the right tape measure or look at the right diagrams? There are lots of things to consider. BUT I suggest that you should go to MFT course when you can. Great course! In my line of work, we don't have MFT females. We would have to pull from other Battalions.

Also to go off of what SFC Cruz said you do not have to go to MFT school to tape someone. As long as you tape by the regulation and another soldier is there to witness the proper procedure it is a valid tape. I have taped male soldiers a million times and each time I have the regulation and a witness there to make sure it is done by the book.

I know in the regulation it says to be snug on the hip measurement to account for the shorts. She was not and it gave me 2 inches on my hips. I also know it’s the smallest part of your waist, which I tried correcting and was told I was wrong. I had a female NCO in with me but she couldn’t say anything and after the tape she said the LT was wrong. That’s why I got a second opinion, from another company and that’s how I got 32% over 34%. It just doesn’t make sense to me if someone loses 5 pounds to gain 1%. It just doesn’t happen

I have been retired for a minute but I attended the MFT course at Ft. Campbell and received my certificate of completion. I received a P identifier and it's NCO business to implement the army weight control program anyway
