Found some pants that I would like to buy for field exercises, but I don’t want to waste money and get hemmed up for looking crazy. Pic related. Any guidance outside of the typical “stop trying to be SF”?

I'd refrain from getting those. They look like a cross between aviator and SF special pants. If you want to get pants for field exercises and have them be 670-1 compliant, just purchase the standard OCP patterned pants.

Pretty much the response that I was experiencing expecting, but alright.

SGT Joseph Reichman - My recommendation is not within the “stop trying to be SF” realm, but within the common sense realm. You get those and wear them to a field problem, and a CSM will hem you up faster than SPC on a can of dip. I have seen people in the military wear pants similar to those (the knee pad element looks photoshopped in) but those folks were aviators or SF. Those folk get special permission to wear special articles of uniform clothing.

When I arrived at NTC in 2018 as OC-T with OPS Group it was allowed to wear commercial ACH and plate carriers; however, 1 year later new CDR published a policy letter banning all commercial brands usage...so it depends on location but those pants no way they be allowed...
