IMO the whole process starting from killing the Iranian general had many flaws. I really don't think our generals had a chance to war-game the scenario and possible consequences. We shot from the hip.
The missile attacks might be a face saving operation. No US SMs wounded or killed - no harm no foul. It is up to us now with a response if any. Having said that, if I was an Iranian military planner I would say those SOBs will pay for it one way or the other by further supporting terrorists and insurgencies, which is of great value to them as the US has spent a few trillion dollars for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

SrA John Monette - Yep you are absolutely right. We are doing some back tracking now. The lip service is like a shotgun blast. It's everywhere.

I am now watching it on several channels. They launched at least a dozen ballistic missiles from Iran. Killing a general from another country is considered an act of war. Unless Congress starts asserting its authority to declare war, we are going to continue to have the Executive branch overreaching. This is not only my opinuon, but that of several Senators including Rand Paul.

Politics goes out the window. Hope for level heads now. This pot has been brewing for awhile. Let the shooters do what they do best. Let the cooler heads have a voice. Crazy doesn't end well.

A general from another country on the ground in one of our Allies soil, not like we went shooting in Iran. He was in Iraq and likely responsible for the recent attacks on the embassy and elsewhere. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

No US casualties. If this is the extent of Iran's response to the death of Soleimani then they have capitulated. Iran does not want war with the US and Trump wants to bring home the troops. Hopefully, cooler heads will prevail. Washington and the press seem to be the only entities interest in a war.
