I can distill my philosophy down to two basic tenets:
1. Everything I do has a purpose - usually more than one. There is a point, and it drives towards an intended goal. I am a firm disbeliever in "busy work".
2. "Good Enough", isn't. There are always ways to improve. Do it faster. More efficiently. Utilize less resources in order to accomplish the same result. What I did yesterday accomplished a purpose. Now let's do it better.

Great philosophy! One of my favorite sayings echoes both basic tenants - a professional is not someone who practices until they get something right, they practice until they cannot get it wrong.

CW3 (Join to see) I approach both with the same enthusiasm and level of energy. I love to walk in the mornings with my better half (great exercise for both and great time for alone communication time); I have a passion for my work that you can hear every time I get on the phone with a perspective, current, or former client; and the same level of energy and motivation when I'm speaking with the back office staff, or speaking with my daughters. Passion, enthusiasm, and self-motivation (built in PMA - Positive Mental Attitude) are the keys to my everyday existence, no matter what happens or how bad the day is. Try it and you'll love it!

An essential lesson for success indeed! A positive mental attitude allows one to think critically in the face of adversity and accept mistakes not allowing them to negatively affect future performance.

When I find out I'll let you know Chief because so far civilian career success has been fleeting. That being said, I have a successful marriage of 21 years and 3 children who we hope we are bringing up right that we love and adore. So there is something to be said for being happy. Regarding the article, I follow most of the 15 points to some degree, and my wife and I do things together and communicate so that also counts for something.
