How Do We Know? A Snapshot of Our Nation's Veterans

Interesting information and demographics on our nation's veteran population RP Community!

Keep in mind this was published in July 2012 and contains a 2010 American Community Survey and 2007 Economic Census (Business Owners)

Interesting! Thanks for sharing.

At least statistically speaking, veterans appear to do better than non veterans, and I'm okay with that!

Thanks for sharing this, it is kind of cool to see where we are using a comparison to other Veterans and non-Veterans.

IMO, RP has the best members of any site doing this type of social networks. All are represented and the differences are primarily political in nature. Just as I remember it while serving. However, my favorite complaint is lack of organization of the forum. What could be done in 1/10th the time is hindered by having to chase comments all over the place for the same topic.

MCPO Roger Collins I search to see if there was a similar topic as an administrator on RP and I didn't see it. If I missed it, give me a clue and I will check it out? Thanks Roger!

Thanks for sharing the statistical data on Veterans compiled by the the Census Bureau COL Mikel J. Burroughs. I expect it may be fairly accurate since most veterans would be conscientious about filling out government forms. However since it is voluntary I expect some veterans do not complete the forms - certainly the homeless veterans would be hard pressed to complete the census forms.
I would be curious about how the census bureau gathered information on wars that Veterans served during. I didn't remember ever seeing any question about that when I filled in the last census form. I served during three wars like many of us. I expect the Census Bureau interfaced with the DoD and VA to gather information on veterans. Certainly DoD as employer could provide statistics on how many currently serving served during 1, 2 or 3 wars.

Good information now they need to do a survey on veterans who badly need assistance, then act on it asap.

We should all look out for one another and be aware of the signs our brothers and sisters need help
