Every Veterans Day and Memorial Day I take my Daughters (4 and 7) to a Federal Cemetery to lay flowers on Veterans headstones.  I am stationed on Okinawa now, there are no US cemeteries on Okinawa. So last Memorial Day I took my daughters to Peace Prayer Park, which lists the names of all Japanese and Allied casualties during the battle of Okinawa.

For Veterans Day I took my Daughters to Torii Beach, the site of one of the landings of the US Army 10th Corps during the battle. They laid flowers and my wife put a bit of her fathers ashes (who was stationed at Torii Station) in the water.

My Veterans Day started with a bang. My son woke up with a fever I couldn't control.Took him to the doctor, then took him to find his sisters present. Then we went to the beach and we hung out on the beach because i didnt want him to feel hes being punished so me and my son spent a lot of time on the beach. AMAZING DAY then I finished it off with a cup of rum

I spent the day with my wife.  If you ask me she is as much a veteran as I am.  She was there serving with me for 23 of the 26 years I was on active duty and made the same sacrifices, if not more than I did.
