What did the JFV consist of? RE3 just means you need a waiver verifying that the reason you were discharged isn't still an issue.
I've been trying to get back in for the last 4yrs with an RE3 (family hardship, received full custody of my kids) and just now found a recruiter to process the waive for it. If you haven't been to the recruiter lately I suggest you head down and make a visit because the rules and regulations have changed for prior service. Now is the time to get in.
The hardest thing you face is finding a recruiter that's willing to do the extra paperwork involved with the waivers. Most only want new recruits, took me about 4 different recruiting stations to find one. If you're still having issues you can look into upgrading your RE code with the Army Discharge board, about a year wait and unlikely, but that is an option. Good luck

It was just a JFV because I hurt my knees in basic (still passed all of my PFTs), was on a long profile, and that's been my problem. My knees have been 100% better for years. I was told that I could still get back in when I was discharged and wasn't told the full details of my discharge. The recruiters not wanting to do the extra paperwork. I had a recruiter and even got my waiver from the Surgeon General, and then when the office moved to another post, numerous packets were lost including mine. I didn't have copies of the wavers or anything yet. I was just waiting on my MEPS date for re-entry. Since then, I've tried the new recruiter at Chillecothe, and even the National Guard (he claimed I needed to see an orthopedic specialist on my own expense for proof) even though I had the physical and everything else.

PV2 Justin Williams - Yeah I feel you. In my experience, Recruiters(not all) tend to exadurate the process. They want to do the bare minimum and since they have so many fresh recruits that require minimum work they make you feel like the process is impossible or a long road to deter you from trying to sign back in. Crappy deal, but a reality. Hopefully you can get pushed in, good luck man.

Thank you very much. Reading it now. I once had a guy in Kirksville helping me, and we were just waiting on the MEPS date... Then they moved their office to Chillecothe, MO and he lost everyone's packet including mine. I already had the approval from the Surgeon General, and every time I've had to get ahold of a recruiter, they're saying they want me to see an orthopedic specialist to get back in.

Too bad I don't have 5 bucks on my debit card today. But I've bookmarked the page and will get it when I get paid.
