I could not help but notice that everyone that DID take their chance, in front of the mic with the trophy, to show support for what they believed in there was no mention of the US military. All I heard about last night was the pain and suffering of other countries. I understand that people all around the world are suffering but why not show just the tiniest support for the men in uniform. It made me start thinking about how these select few actors and actresses have effected the military. I would like to see what all you fine people think about this connection. Does Hollywood have an effect or am I trying to find something to complain about?

IMHO, as an entity, Hollywood has no effect on the military, save for a few prominent people who show their support by visiting the troops. I believe the relationship is the reverse - the military's effect on Hollywood. We supply them with a multitude of material, of which probably only 1 in 100 stories ever sees the screen. Of the stuff that does make the screen, The Hankses and Spielbergs of the world, though staunch supporters, make how many millions off it? Then after their cut, how much actually finds its way back to the military, say to the USO or other supporting organizations, other than the film "advisors"?
Bob Hope, Hollywood's greatest ambassador to the military, has been gone for how long and no one has picked that mantle yet. Think that says a lot.
