I was leaving for work at Fort Meade this morning at 0545, when I noticed an alert on my phone saying that the Fort Meade schools where my wife works and where my daughter attends are closed. I kept on truckin', but by the time I got to the 7-Eleven near base, I learned that the entire post is on reduced operations. You can read all about it in the link below. Isn't this a crazy world we live in?

CW5 (Join to see) yeah I live right by the gate that was rammed through. Pretty insane. This helicopter has been flying overhead all night into the morning. Pretty sketchy situation.

I was at Meade for a few years. I'm down at Gordon now, but I heard about it this morning. Got an email regarding it at work, too...

I was running at 0520 by the Parade Field and a SFC told me to go back home because somebody rammed a gate and was still on the loose. I sprint back home since my wife was alone. Kind of creepy.

I feel for you, SGT(P) (Join to see). Must have been scary, especially with your wife at home alone.
I find it hard to comprehend that the guy would run ON POST, but it seems to be working. I guess there are a lot of places to hide on base.

CW5 (Join to see) Sir, did you make it to work? I've been on call the whole morning. We had a COR this morning that we still don't know if it is cancelled or what. My wife just tried to go to work off post and had to come back since traffic is hectic and not moving. It is worst than when Obama came a few weeks ago.

I did make it, SGT(P) (Join to see), shortly after noon. They caught the guy at 1020 and we got the word around 1125 to return to work. Lots of people did not come in, but I was there, soldierin' on.
