I was wondering if anyone has applied and/or received the new Veteran's Identification Card. I do not see a need to get one myself. I do not ask for military/veteran discounts. Here is an article discussing some of the problems some vets have had in acquiring the identification cards.

Florida places a "V" on one's driver's license to indicate veteran.

Kentucky adds the word "VETERAN" by your photo.

LTJG Richard Bruce I wasn't going to pay 10 dollars for it myself. My VA card was free.

I used to work for the VA and I could not get a card. IMHO, just stick with whatever ID you have. VA will always honor it.

I haven’t, but I don’t see any point in getting one. Lowe’s has a nw system and Im verified through it si I don’t have show my VA card anymore. That’s the only place I get a discount.

SGT (Join to see) - We didn't have PX cards only our regular Army ID's. We did have ration cards overseas, though.

SGT (Join to see) - It came when I got my VA card. I had to ask what it was used for. They told me commissary privileges anywhere in the US. I went to a local AFB but I could buy anything they had cheaper elsewhere.

SGT (Join to see) - Yes I’m 73. I had to take a medical retirement in 1999. I’m 100% disability rating.

I got mine when they first changed over from the V.A. clinic. No problems. You'll need one for the check in kiosks for appointment check in, check out and travel pay.

Similar to some States mentioned here, CT places an American Flag on ones Drivers license indicating Veteran. Also, If you are a Military Retiree you do not need the VA card since your Retiree card accomplishes the same purposes.

Already had one myself but took my brother to put in for his at the VA Outpatient Clinic back in December and it has not arrived yet. Read of several excuses by the VA about problems on their end but I think bottom line was the VA really did not want the mission but it was shoved down their throat by Congress.
