I can seem to get through a single day without hearing Trump say something so racist I want to punch myself in the face. Now the party leadership is asking all Republicans to get behind him, and he appears to be emboldened by this to the point of attacking a Federal Judge.

SSG Pete Fleming - The democratic party was horrendous in the past. Racism in the extreme. It was Democrats who instituted segregation, who fought against giving Blacks and later women the right to vote.

Of course, listing accomplishments and vices of Democrats and Republicans ignores that the ideologies of the two parties in question gradually switched places in the middle of the last century. Those racist, segregationist and sexist Democrats were CONSERVATIVES, while those Republicans who pushed for equal rights for racial minorities, equal rights for women and the end to segregation were LIBERALS.

SSG Pete Fleming - No, it is historic fact. It was a gradual thing, but the Democrats drifted from majority Southern Conservative to majority Northern Liberal causing those Conservative Southern Democrats to seek and find a new home in the GOP, which gradually shifted to their views.

SSG Pete Fleming - We know the DEMs created the KKK to terrorize blacks from voting GOP after slavery. FFWD 21st century, what do you think? seems like the GOP took up the Bigot mantle in the 21st Century

You'll have to forgive my candor, Mr. Mattheisen- Controversial question , so my "answer" can be no less controversial. No-neither the Republican Party, nor the majority of Republican voters are "racists" or "lunatics". My personal assessment is that Mr. Trump is not so much of either, as he is a showman and salesman. The media, infused with the insatiable desire for profit at any cost...is equally non-representative.

What the overwhelming majority of "us" should be viewed as, are working class Americans who always seem to have more bills than money, work for years in careers that "promised" security that appears to becoming more elusive, who are increasingly concerned that our "safety" is at risk, who hold values that appear to be the central "target" of a very loud minority, who are sick and tired of hearing that "we" have some obligation to self-deprecate ourselves for slights that, at best, took place before many of us were even born.

Mr. Trump doesn't "inspire" me, nor garner any great portion of my respect-but after a kangaroo court of a primary, where the "best" the Party could come up with was re-treads of the same empty, pasty, weak-willed tag lines that lost before...at least he's coming out with both guns blazing. It is assumed his "bark" is worse than his "bite", and that's what "we're" counting on.

It's come to that because the opposition isn't Mrs. Clinton or Mr. Sanders, but the people who steal righteous anger they've neither earned nor understand from those who truly have issue-most of whom, are working, paying and serving right alongside us. It's become a "war of words" with people who seem all too ready to surrender every hard-won right they have merely to get a "guaranteed" mediocrity, supported by a host of dangerous, malicious interests that neither represent, nor care about the disenfranchised, displaced, or disavowed.

Long diatribe, for which I apologize, but let's get one thing absolutely, 100% crystal clear-We're not voting for the Party's "savior"...rather, we're choosing the only remaining option that may interrupt the "Progressives'" leadership and give the RNC time to come up with a candidate who has real principles, real experience and for heaven's sake...a backbone...to support them.

TSgt Hunter Logan - Reference your earlier post (which I just saw), I have sparred with CPT L.S. before, because of our different opinions about things. Sometimes, I actually agree with him (when it is not about politics, abortion, immigration, football teams, ....) ... Huh, OK ... I guess I really do not typically agree with him about anything, although I do like the back and forth, when it does not get personal (except in jest).

TSgt Hunter Logan - I have been blocked by a couple of idiots ... They continue to post nonsense, yet they do not allow folks to comment about their posts. That's OK... I still comment, indirectly, and call them out for their hypocrisy when I do it.

CPT L S, I think your fly is down! You really don't want to talk about the Auburn Tigers & the Oregon Ducks in the same sentence, because the last time AU faced the Ducks, we beat them for the national championship! Oregon State hasn't ever fared well against AU either! War Eagle/Roll Ride to my good friend, COL Jean (John) F. B.!
