Has anyone recently went from national guard to active duty that would share the experience with me. I have turned in my paperwork for the conditional release to my unit so I’m waiting on that before I move forward. How did the grade determination work? Did you have to reclass? How was your transition from guard to active once you’ve gotten to your duty station? If your married how did your spouse and children adjust to the change? Any information that you can share will be greatly appreciated?

I swapped guard to active not to long ago in Nov 2017. If your MOS is not listed in the prior service business rules then you will have to reclass to one of those MOSs. I kept my rank but I believe my time in service got messed up. 9 years 11 months guard with one 7 month deployment somehow only counted as 12 months of active time. Transition from guard to active varies from person to person. It is a different world for sure. Kids are all under 5 so I dont think they noticed much of a difference. Though they do receive help with EFMP at the on post pre K.

When they compress the time in service did that also affect your pay?

SSG (Join to see) I still receive pay showing service for 11 years. However, my active time and promotion time in grade was significantly affected.
