I would advise against coming off tour. Unless you have an equivalent or better civilian job lined up. Your current assignment is temporary, state side tour length is 3-5 years on station. I know that your initial assignment can be a bit of a culture shock AGR is not like Regular Army or traditional Army Reserve. We are the problem solvers and often we're thrown into the fray without any support and have to make order from chaos. The way forward is to do it for the Soldiers, protect them from toxic and ineffective command teams, get them trained, and make something from nothing.

You nailed it SFC Cozart! Being an AGR Training NCO is a tough row to hoe. More often than not, the Training NCO has a better handle on the Unit than the 1SG. LOTS of delicate situations to keep from the impression of usurping the Command while doing the Right thing.
Being his first Tour, makes it especially tough.
