Gay Rights and the Church. How far do gay rights go?

If you go to a Christian Church and they do not want to do Gay Marriages, should they be forced to? Or should they find a church who believes in the rights of gay? Should churches be mandated to teach acceptance of these rights of at the very least, tolerance?
And should the Texas Mayor have been allowed to subpoena sermons?

I think it is completely wrong to allow open gay rights in any of the religious churches. In this country we have freedom of religion in and every religion shuns homosexuality. To alter or demand an alteration of the way one practices or believes is a violation of our freedoms. They should start there own religion and rewrite one of the many religious books that have been rewritten to got the needs of kind and governments through out time. Religion is ultimately a scam and scare tactic but we have our rights and freedoms to be allowed to follow it.

People talk about liberal views ... and how unfair liberals are about gay marriage, remember without liberal progressiveness blacks would still be slaves and women wouldn't be able to vote and 10 yr olds would still be working in factories.

Mark, your version of fact is twisted fiction... Who says liberals are unfair to gay marriage? Name a liberal politician or public figure that is unfair about gay marriage. It's been a mainstay of the liberals to buy votes by, regardless of personal belief, promoting the tolerance of gay rights and castigating the "Religious Right" as bigots and intolerant. You see, even as you but into it and twist the truth to further the liberal agenda, what you do not understand or see is that they devalue the gay vote. See they believe that a gay person only cares about one thing; gay rights, and as long as they play along with being favorable to gay rights and marriage they will always have a faithful voter. So, now ask yourself, contrary to your statement, do you think the liberals that favor gay rights/marriage for the sake of gaining loyal voters ever want gay rights issues to be resolved? The answer, if you haven't come to it yourself is NO, they always want gay rights to be an issue, just like they want abortion to be an issue, see they as politicians freeload on the conflicted and vilify those with clarity to further themselves without concern for the core issue. You just keep your liberal Kool-aid mustache in regs...

Conservatives have issues they always want to be issues, they're no different and when I said unfair I meant in the opposite direction. You make liberals out to be something that conservatives aren't and if you think they are somehow more noble then your the one drinking the kool-aid.

Churches are tax free shelters so yeah, until they're paying taxes they are not private and thus subject to gov sight, don't want to marry gay people, then pay taxes like private institutions.

wow you love to put in those personal zingers don't you. Can you make a post without saying something derogatory, you think somehow that makes your point better or do you just get kicks from that? As for the facts, I think if an entity is getting a tax break then they should be held to some level of standard.

Mark, that is not a fact, it is your opinion that if someone gets a tax break they be held to a standard. Fact is, churches are not to be governed. It's pretty much a part of the foundation of this country...the separation of church and state. You talk about my zingers, but I reserve them for the truly worthy... you do know this country was founded by people that came here to get away from the religious persecution by kings?

Finally a fact,... but the people recognized that false religion instituted by kings wasn't their belief and their belief wasn't going to be controlled so they moved on to find a place and founded it based on religious freedom with the separation of church and state. Amen.
