Like many here on Rallypoint and in the military overall, I have a tendency to strive for perfection and oftentimes end up less than happy in the end. The following perspective from Steve Harvey Morning Show however shined a new light on how I should feel about my failures

Life is a road. Your body is a car. YOU are the driver of that car. You CANNOT drive looking at rear-view mirror. You use that mirror to ensure you completely passed others and are ready to move on or move over.

Rear view mirror is small. Windshield is LARGE. Through windshield you get a broad view of the road ahead, while through rear view you see the past events that are getting further and further behind, to where you cannot see them eventually.

Now think about it. Now read it again and DRIVE ON!

The other day I heard a great speech by former SOCOM commander William Mccraven. He expressed a striking parallelism in his speech to this parable as seen in the following link: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pxBQLFLei70
