The U.S. and South Korea activated their first-ever combined division Wednesday in what military officials hailed as a milestone for the two allies.
It serves as a signal to the world, and to our potential adversaries in particular, that we have made the transformation that is necessary to succeed on the battlefield. We now have the best that both armies in the alliance have to offer -- all in one division, under one flag, fighting united in effort and purpose."

I think this is a good thing, the U.S. cannot sustain our obligations and presence worldwide without the help of our allies. This brings them into the fold and allows us and the ROK army to be even better prepared to work together. The 82nd now has a deputy commander of interoperability, a British one-star, who coordinates efforts between the 82nd and the British Parachute Regiment and other entities.

I do doubt though that you will ever see anything like this in which the US is not in command.

I saw this and a multitude of thoughts went through my head. I realize it is a show of solidarity against N. Korea, but what happens with future command?

This is astounding. I would love to have seen or have been a part of that Key Resolve.

Hell it use to be a Combined Corps back in the 80s.... Nothing totally new! Plus, Korean soldiers (KATUSAs) have been assigned to American units since the Korean War.

Years back, they had the Combield Field Corps base out of Camp Red Cloud. Then in the early 90s it was dissolved, and that is when 2ID HQ moved to CRC!!!!
