Haven't finished watching this one yet, but looks like I'll need to.  Will it appeal to general community do you think?

Erika- I think your military members will really like this speech. You can tell by the audience's captivation, that even the non military will enjoy it.

Like some others, I am a Simon Sinek fan-boy. His "Why Good Leaders Make You Feel Safe," talk is my favorite. He specifically talks about how the military is the best example of this and that selflessness and sacrifice on the part of a leader is one of the most admirable traits any leader can have. This guy is money.

This is also a great one for leadership. Could be my Air Force background, but I really like the parallel he draws to the Wright Brothers in this presentation.

Great, thanks for the vote on this one.  I had it on my list, and not just because I have a Mac.  My co host is still reviewing for "mass appeal", but I think I'll push for it.

Here's another good presentation from Simon Sinek.  It's pretty long, but good listen.  And the first few minutes have a fun A-10 story.

My biggest takeaway here that I think we all can appreciate...
We all know 'what' we do and 'how' we do our jobs, but it is conveying the 'why' that separates the good leaders from the very best.  It has the means to make the most average group of people accomplish the most incredible tasks.

Here's another one that I think is quite good. I've been meaning to listen to this one for quite a while, and your post, Lt Col (Join to see), motivated me to actually take the ten minutes to listen to it. Thank you, ma'am!

If people listened to this talk and followed the guidance, Facebook and Cable News would cease to exist as we know it.

7 deadly sins of speaking (or by extension, writing):

Gossip, Judging, Negativity, Complaining, Excuses, Lying, Dogmatism.

This may have to make its way into my WOCS curriculum.

One of the best innovators of all time (not because what he designed, but because of how he delivered them).

Sooo...I saw this thread title and thought "this should be funny".

I'm glad I did some reading first and didn't just start quoting lines from the movie "Ted".

I am glad this thread resurfaced. I love TED Talks. I use them in my classrooms when I can--anything to build leadership confidence. Sometime, I make my kids watch them too.

One that is particularly helpful with new warrant officer candidates with effective communication classes: http://www.ted.com/talks/amy_cuddy_your_body_language_shapes_who_you_are

Lt Col (Join to see), ma'am, I watched another excellent TED talk I want to draw your attention to. This one has an obvious military application, and it's got quite the emotional ending:

The ending is great... but... getting there is difficult. Great science and methodology... I appreciate those that are much smarter than I am to be able to provide this to our Force.
