ERB Career Timelines; Where is the regulation? So the SFC Board is coming up and during a quick NCODP earlier in the week absolutely no one knew the answer to this. The line break outs, when those SGM's review the ERB they are looking for correctness and making sure everything matches. However how far should it go? Breakdown scenarios I have seen are; NCOER Duty Positions Deployments Change in Rank Others have their ERB matched verbatim to only their NCOERs (no deployments, no change in rank), while others still are missing things like BASIC, AIT, etc. (I believe he used to be a Reservist) Is there an actual standard that should be at play? If you just let it auto populate it will be terribly wrong, we have all had to correct the timeline breakdown in our careers. What's the standard?

SSG Harvey - some good advice throughout

Basically

1. All NCOERs should be populated in your Assignment Info

2. If same org, station, duty title - combine

3. If deployed, breakout and have (FWD Location) in the duty title

4. Additionally, prior to your NCOERs, populate all the way back

That should just about get you where you need to be.

I don't have a reg as a reference or anything but I am SUPER anal about my ERB matching my records down to the correct amount of months duty positions you name it all the way back to basic. I have the separate duty positions for deployments like you mentioned. If you want I can send you my ERB as a guide. I was picked up for SFC on my first look at right years this way and hoping to repeat with this msg board (this is my first look)

I'm guessing this evolved because the deployment section of the ERB is blacked out for the board.

See this is why I want some regulations heh. That was pulled from some the FG circa 2008 so it may be old I have no idea.

On another note, if my NCOER has Operations Duty NCO as the Principle Duty title should I put the same thing on the ERB or should I put Operations NCO because I have never heard of an Operations Duty NCO slot.....

If it fits in the slot on the ERB I'd change it. I've abbreviated some duty titles but I have it match my ERB exactly. 623-3 says your duty title should be based on the MTOE OR whatever closely matches your duty description. I'm in my phone now but I'll quote the reg when I get home. Also for the deployments I'm glad the duty titles show fwd because if I went with my duty position in CONUS it would have just said interrogator but I was detached to a unit where I was a SENIOR interrogator.

Ok here is the part from the reg that gives you a little leeway on what goes in the principal duty title block on the NCOER, which then affects your NCOER:

Enter principal duty title that matches the unit force management document or that most accurately reflects actual duties performed. (DA PAM 623-3, table 3-3)

From my guy in HR who is a retired HR CSM, he states that you should have your ERB match your NCOERs. If you are forward, then the duty assignment on the ERB should match with the word "FWD"

I am not sure there is a standard, but when it looks right, it looks right and there won't be a lot of erroneous information on there. I think the biggest influence will be the NCOER and how the senior and rater feel about you as a leader. If those match, then you should be close.
