During the Super Bowl, there was a Coke Comercial where America the Beautiful was sung in different Languages. What did you think of this?

I think it is awesome that "America the Beautiful" has been translated into so many languages. I found the commercial to be patriotic, thought-provoking and beautiful. I am apparently one of very few in the military community who feels this way, however. I deactivated my Facebook tonight after a barrage of comments and texts reminded me of how greatly my worldview differs from my family and peers.

Why would you do that when everyone has the right to there own thoughts? How many people do you work with that have different worldviews from you? You going to close out them to? Facebook is a good tool to keep in touch. Dont let opinion of others effect your life (not saying facebook is a way of life).

I didn't deactivate it to shut out other peoples viewpoints, I am one of the most open-minded people I know and can honestly see both sides of this argument, to an extent. I deactivated it because receiving angry texts from family members demanding to know why I think it's ok for "terrorists to sing "AMERICA'S" song was very distracting to the productivity of my thesis paper, which was already stressing me out. I reactivated it when the smoke cleared. :)

"America The Beautiful" is an American anthem, not the National Anthem. We are a country of immigrants and every image in the ad is part of the American landscape, San Francisco, Seattle, New York, Cedar Rapids, Montana, Arizona. The women wearing hijab in Chinatown...<br><br>It is a celebration of our diversity. Personally, I hate Coke for their economic priorities, but what they did here was an exceptional portrayal of what America is, or at least should be. Acceptance and celebration of a diversity that makes America unique.<br>

No one is saying whites are entitled to anything, that is another myth by liberals to assuage their feelings of somehow harming others (and liberals actually do with their policies and with the unintended consequences of their actions) when they nor anyone else has today (except possibly pimps) ever owned slaves. You are also lumping in a LOT of people whose ancestry was not here while slavery existed, that would be the Irish and Scots due to the Potato famine from the 1840's (you cannot argue about the civil war being in the 1860's for these folks, for they were poor and England had outlawed slavery as evil years before and they would have grown up understanding this) and further immigration until the 1920's and the German immigration following WW1 and 2.

The echo chamber is now saying those who oppose President Obama, do so because of race, however, Bill Clinton was white, Al Gore was white, Robert Mondale was white, and I apposed all of them on policy issues, just the same as I appose President Obama on policy issues.
For those claiming otherwise, it is offensive an a lie. If his opponent in the last election would have been Herman Cain I would have voted for Herman Cain. My use of "WASP Fascism" is based on those that have intentionally exercised white privilege. My apologies if you took offense. Just because you are white, doesn't make you a cracker or a redneck either. You are either a redneck, or a cracker or fascist, or you are not.
While the commercial seems to have created a division in America, the line appears to be between the xenophiles and the xenophobes.
As for historical political ideologies, the Republican platform of Eisenhower is not the platform of Cruz or Cain, any more than the Democratic Platform looks anything like Adlai Stevenson's.
And my echo chamber is no worse than yours. The political extremes are both pure BS. There is an oversimplification of economics, politics, social stratification. There is a historical ignorance that insists on a re-enactment of some of the United States most turbulent times before we'll be able to achieve growth again.
Current liberal and conservative ideologies are false. They are based on ideological lies that bear little resemblance to reality. There is not a political ideology (Republican, Democratic, Libertarian, etc) that does not lead to fascism at this point. The question seems to be 1984 or Soylent Green.
There has got to be another option, and we aren't getting it from the talking faces.

America was named after a 15th century Spanish explorer and merchant named Amerigo . It was settled by immigrants from all over the world speaking many different languages. The commercial was a terrific tribute to the multitude of different cultures that are here in America.
