SPC,
Rumblings around the linguist community about working at DTRA have been overwhelmingly positive and there is heavy language use there. Also, it's great for career progression as a linguist. If it's something you are interested in, contact your PDNCO and have him put you down as a volunteer. It's a nominative position, so they they will reach out and contact qualified people when they need someone. You can also look at their website (http://www.dtra.mil/) for some basic information about the agency.

SGT (Join to see), I have not worked for DTRA as a linguist, but I have supported DTRA and their mission in the past. I have also known a couple linguists who did work for DTRA. They seemed to enjoy it for the most part. You need to be ready to travel a fair bit, but that is usually not a problem for us, is it? The opportunity is definitely there: DTRA needs Russian linguists.
Here's a six-year-old article about this topic, which seems old, but I know the requirement and the opportunity still exist.
