I'm leaving for basic soon and my recruiter told me that my AIT would give me college credits towards an associate's degree? My question is about how transferable the credits are? Also what opportunities are there after AIT for more schooling? I figure the army will get everything they can out of me so I might as well try and get the most out of the army.

Yes, you get around 30 to 40 transferable college credits from the local college there, You have to pay like $50 but it’s really worth it because you get all those credits. The credits go towards an AA networking degree. But you have to take like an extra math, English and I want to say psychology (not positive about that though) class to finish the degree.

What !major would you want? What are your goals and ambitions? Senior enlisted? Warrant? Commissioned? Career? Going active then civilian? Guard? Reserve AGR Guard Tech? Reserve Tech? Elaborate as far as you can, do a detailed bio sketch, hobbies, reading, interests, sports, martial arts, high school AP credits, college so far, grades, GPA, so far as you'd want to go into, the more you explain, the more I or others here can suggest...also, look at not just ROTC or Green to Gold, also Simultaneous Member Program (SMP,l, as well as ISCH scholarships, USPHS COSTEp if you want clinical, as well as USMC Platoon Leaders Course (PLC), less well known....

If there's am educ off on your installation, see what colleges or universities they bring in where you are, where I was did that, live in your educ off, so to speak, get to know the staff quite well, if trees an assoc or Bach on installation, pick a major and do it, of you want to chat about STEM or clinical programs, I can suggest other things, possibly, as well....

Does my 35T AIT count for college credits? If so, are the credits transferable? What other opportunities are there after AIT?

Look up the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) subject tests, not the genl test, needed for grad school, the subject tests are rough, however a good many of them are no longer given, the thing is, Excelsior back when it was part of anYS State as Regents College under NYSED Educ Dept gave 30 pass fail credits for a passing raw score, not a percentile, actual raw score, 15 twd an assocs, 15 twd a Bach, also, they have a 2nd assocs or Bach rule I think still exists, though I was told the GTE subj test rule allowing credit for minimum raw score was stopped, I think Thomas Edison or Charter Oak, possibly the latter, as I recall, allowed 24 not 30, also, Excelsior never uses fractional grades, a B+ becomes a B, a C- a C, I don't know why they do that, just part of their practices, I gather....

Call DANTES and Amer Council on Educ (ACE) about getting a military transcript. USAF has Community College of the AF (CCAF), I just don't know if other svcs can use it, others on here have said no, that a valid USAF AFSC is needed, analogous to an Army MOS, though I did read of efforts to open it to other svcs, however, I don't know if there was any success or not, I've always kinda wondered that, I'd figured CCAF must get a good many calls from enlisted in other svcs. Look up Univ of the People, (UoPeople), tuition free, only admin and exam costs, the thing is, it's only DETC accredited, not regionally, so I have zero clue if the svcs, VA, or industry accept them, they've got assocs and Bach in bus admin, comp sci, and health sci, as well as an MNA...

John Specktor please see link below to Cochise College. They offer at least 21 college credits towards various degrees to several 35 series MOS. I think 35T is included. When you get to your AIT, you’ll receive more information.
They’re very flexible and accept credits, as well. You can turn any previous college credits along with what you earn towards a degree.

Best of luck.
