For the casual blogger or website it's not worth the effort. Unless you are doing interactive data bases, storing client or customer information, you aren't going to get an ROI out of it. Further, be more concerned about hardening your host first- doesn't do you much good to harden the web server if I can exploit the underlying OS - be it a flavor of Unix or Windows.

That's what I'm more concerned with - hardening the domain & WordPress.

You may want to check to see if your host already supplies a similar service as part of the plan.

It's good if you have an e-commerce site, I would recommend it. Most hosting sites do offer security, depends on the service plan you have etc....

They have Sitelock, but I'm looking for alternatives. Considering Cloudflare right now. Thoughts ?

I haven't, but I guess it also depends on what website your running? Is it an interactive website? informative website? blog? wiki? Are you using a CMS?

SSgt (Join to see) - I have used Notepad ++, it is pretty cool. I did make a site with notepad ++ in one of my classes. Hmmmm maybe one day I'll try it again, thanks for mentioning that.

TSgt Anthony White - I've been fond of it's simplicity yet performance, and the more recent features are just awesome - I have no complaints.

Also https://jsfiddle.net is a great resource to test CSS with HTML, or anything really.

TSgt Anthony White - Have you tried Atom.io ? It's nice

This jsfiddle seems a lot easier than saving code and refreshing a webpage. Can't believe I'm just now seeing this.

For a personal blog, CloudFlare free could handle your needs.

I didn't know it had a Free option. Is it better than SiteLock Free ?

CloudFlare does indeed have a free option. I wasn't aware that SiteLock had a free edition. I'm not aware of it limitations or features. For a small blog, I would imagine SiteLock free would most likely be fine.
