Does anyone from the National Guard know about having a longer drill weekend if you're in a support MOS such as Maintance?

Longer than what? The weekend is only so long, regardless of what your MOS is.

Yes Sergeant, it's unit dependent. Traditionally it's a MUTA 4 weekend but sometimes you get a MUTA 6 or 8. I'm with an HHC that does MUTA 6 while the units below us do MUTA 4 because the HHC and BN Staff need an extra day to set up advon and other duties for the battalion. That said because of the regular MUTA 6 & 8 they have months where we don't drill because we can't go over our MUTA's for the year.
You may also find regular opportunities for orders in Full Time National Guard Duty, Additional Annual Training, or Technician positions depending on your MOS and unit. These are optional though, so it's up to you if you want to participate in them.

Every Guard unit that I've been in does one MUTA 6 a year for IWQ. That's with MP and Aviation units. The one exception to that was MEDEVAC when we had two. One for IWQ and one for SRP.

With the aviation units, you also had AFTP’s, too, didn’t you? We were expected to do 2-4 a month, which really added on the commitment.

Yeah, we do. They're not required though. They push the pilots harder than they push the crew chiefs because our minimums aren't as high as the rated guys. Some of us burn them all in a year for the money and retirement points and some people don't ever use hardly any.
