My wife and I are about to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. We decided we would follow the Traditional Anniversary gift list. We were wondering if anyone else did this. The first year is paper.

First off congratulations on your anniversary. My wife and I do the traditional side. On our 25th Anniversary, I had to explain to my 23 year old daughter and 19 year old son the importance of the 25th Anniversary. They had no clue. Needless to say we didn't get anything silver from them. We didn't do anything special because we were getting ready to buy our retirement house and decided to wait until this fall to do something. We are going to go to Miami and Key West. We never had a Honeymoon so we are going to do one that is slightly late.

SGM Steve Wettstein my wife got married in Oahu because of my duty station, so we didn't have an official honeymoon either. Took a little leave and explored the island with her. We may do something like that later in life. Thank you for your response! Congratulations on your long marriage and best of luck with the next 25 years!

My wife and I didn't really follow either list, but I did give her wood for our 5th Anniversary -- and we have a 22 year old son to prove it! Hehe! Seriously though, she was about 5 months pregnant with him on our anniversary. I took her out to a 5 star restaurant and there was another couple celebrating their 5th Anniversary. That guy gave his wife a diamond ring, so my wife said "She got a diamond for her anniversary, where's mine?" So I pointed at her belly and said "Your diamond is right there!" Lol. Best answer I could have ever given! :-)
