Yesterday I received a request from an old friend from 35 years ago. He asked that I vouch for him on RallyPoint. To be honest I was surprised that you could be on RallyPoint for many months and not be vouched for. I was happy to vouch for my friend but wasn't sure how to go about it. I responded to his message and told him I would be happy to vouch for him. Then I sent a message to RallyPoint support and told them I wanted to vouch for my friend. Within 30 minutes or so I received a message asking if I would vouch for my friend. I clicked on the hyperlink and vouched for my friend.
I would be happy to vouch for any RallyPoint member that I have been acquainted with or friends with in my military career. I know there are many other members who would do as well?
Do you need to be vouched for? If you do let us know and we will try to help you find somebody who can vouch for you.

Are some thinking one has to be verified AND vouched for?

My understanding is that vouching is one way of becoming verified. If already verified there is no need to also have someone vouch for you.

My goal was to get people who need to be verified and help them find somebody on RallyPoint who knew them and could legitimately vouch for them Capt (Join to see),

LTC Stephen F. - Worthy goal. For whatever reason nobody could vouch for me when I joined. That included the guy that lead me to the site.

Capt (Join to see) - Was that guy unwilling to vouch for you?
I hope he was unable and not unwilling.

LTC Stephen F. When I entered his name to vouch for me RP said he was unavailable to do so. Had the same result for a few others.

For me verification was achieved by scanning and sending my retirement letter Biggest problem was I somehow was entered twice.

RP was great at straightening it out.

I will vouch for someone whom I personally know has served. Doing so for anyone other could compromise the integrity of RP.

I probably should be vouched for on here, but the only problem is having someone I personally know on here to vouch for me. I don't want to be vouched for by just anybody just because they want to help me out. I'd prefer they have the ease of mind in knowing for a fact that I serve. With that being said, I am verified so I'm not sure if that still means I need vouched for or not.

Once you are verified in accordance with RallyPoint standards you don't need to be vouched for PO2 (Join to see).
Vouching for should be limited to people who personally knew us while we served.
It took a while for me to connect with some of the soldiers I served with. I hope you have been able to connect with people who served with you.

You are correct. Once you're verified you don't need to be vouched for. Different words but same end result.

Perhaps points should not accrue until the person is verified.

I joined RP in August & emailed them a copy of my DD214 & received a response that they reviewed it and that my Marine Service and Rank had been verified. But so far there's not been anyone here who I served with or if there is he may still be pissed at me for being tough on him during PT at Geiger & Vieques..

LTC Stephen F. - I'm hoping to find Major Mike Moylan USMCret who as a Cpl said he and some of his buds were not too happy with PT at Geiger when I was the NCOIC.....unfortunately he was in the rear on our hikes and had a tough time keeping up with the pace I set up front of the Company.. But some of these guys were all heavy smokers back in the day..

Actually MAJ (Join to see) I think "No - I am a troll and don't want to be vouched for" includes Verified and a troll :-)
At least that was my intention :-)

I have been a RallyPoint member since March 2015 and do not need to be vouched for. I will be happy to vouch for anybody I have served with from November 1974 to May 2008.
