Yes, it's only a matter of time, especially since recent airstrikes occurred over Mosul. Here comes some good ol "mission creep"

Unfortunately, it will not be long. Just when we thought there might be a lull in missions...

I know my Unit is ready, we have many deployments in both Iraq and Afghanistan and being a Sapper Unit most have seen combat. The whole "advising" missions are a front so Obama isnt seen as a joke with his promises of ending our role in the Middle East. Plus with the shift in power to the Republican Party just a matter of time before there's a surge in combat roles.

I understand. I am 3 deployments deep currently. I have known SFCs with more time spent overseas than stateside. It is a shame.

Man I think combat missions have already started! I think it won't be long before we send a brigade I give it 9 months! But don't worry America! We won't have Boots on the ground

I agree, boots are on ground and I know if it was my unit we would join in the fight. Military advisors as a term is ridiculous. Trying to train the local military to take on ISIS or other terrorist group without engaging is a waste of time and money plus any progress will be very minimal at best. We need a large presence to dismantle these groups and crush the threat.

Hoooah. I firmly agree we lead by examples, if we are just advising and not demonstrating we are destined to fail. I hate to say it but It's just a matter of time before before an attack on US personnel oversees "advising" is carried out. And with the limitations that are set the odds of casualties and KIA on our brothers is very high. Putting them in this situation is a shame and wrong
