I may have a opportunity to transfer to a unit closer to my house. I travel an hour and a half on average( double that on weekdays) now through some of the worst roads in the country. The new unit will be at least half. I am new,to the military and the unit so I haven't had an OER. And my bolc keeps getting change, which in turn delays my OER.The I I AM asked for any OERs I have . Will this keep me from transferring? It is a good opportunity and would make things a bite easier on me. I could wait but I don't know if the opportunity will be there. Will this affect my chances?

If you want to do the transfer, you should go ahead and initiated it. The OER issue can be worked out through several ways, depending on the timing of when the transfer actually takes place. For example, you could have an extended OER in your next unit with time unobserved, or get an OER from your current unit. Depending on the State's particular rules, you may need an OER before the final transfer can take place, but the paperwork will take a while anyway, so you can do it in parallel, and get the real answers to your questions as you go through the process.

It shouldn't affect the transfer, but if you have been at your current unit for more than 90 days, you need to get an OER before you leave. One question though, how did you get promoted to 1LT with receiving any OERs as a 2LT....after at least 2 years, you should have received a couple?
