Do you tend to have friends or aqitences at work?
The people I work with (at current and previous commands) are nice enough, but tend not to be people I would elect to spend time with outside of work.
I'm curious what your experiences have been?

I only have a small number of people I have met in the Army that I call true friends. What is strange about that is the majority of those people are complete opposites of myself as far as political beliefs, personal beliefs, or just the way they are in general. The one thing that we agree on is we respect one another's beliefs and opinions. True friends are very hard to come by.

I have a ton of acquaintances/buddies that I consider friends, just not true friends. If that makes any sense.

Great question LT Jessica Kellogg. I have been in the Army for almost 25 years. I have a ton of friends and acquaintances. but only a small trusted few that I consider "trusted friends." These are the few that I know that I, or my family, can count on no matter what. These are the few with whom no matter what the distance or the amount of time since you have seen each other last, that when you are together, you pick things right back up without skipping a beat. My family and I are fortunate to have them in our lives.

Good question... I have only a few close friends, from my many years in the Army... I still have them to this day. I have many acquaintances. The friends are the ones, I know I can count on no matter what, and they are few.

I have both.  Although most of them are acquaintances, I have also made really good friends at work.  The kind you go all out for on a personal level.  In both the military and in law enforcement (my current profession) who else, but those like you, can really understand your way of life.  And there is no mistake these professions are a way of life.
