Do you believe the Bill of Rights is outdated and should be either dropped in its entirety or at least rewritten?

My Goddaughter seems to be very representative of many people in her generation in believing that the Second Amendment is totally outdated and needs to be eliminated. As with many on the left, she feels that no individual has any need for a handgun.
Additionally, do we really need the First Amendment since one of its previsions deals with religion and seems to discriminate against atheists and agnostics?
So, how many down votes will I get for even posting a controversial question like this?

I think we should re-write the entire document. We live in a completely different wolld today than 250 years ago. We now have the the technology to create a much more transparent, safe and equal society. The US should take the world lead in banning guns and eliminating intolerance,

I agree with Olsen. The Constitution of the United States is still as valid today as the day it was written. We have the longest lasting stable government on the planet. Many countries have changed their constitutions due to various reasons, and those countries have had major problems. We have had over 200 years of the same document. No changes are needed. What is there besides you statement of gun control needs to be changed? ....not a damn thing, including the Second Amendment. The Bill of Rights is sacred and with only a few rulings by the Supreme Court, it has stood the test of time. Only a government that fears the people would want to ban weapons. Remember this, the 2nd Amendment is not about guns as much as it giving us the authority to rebel if the government gets out of control. Do you really want to turn America into a bunch of sheep? BS. The nice thing about the way our Constitution was written is that we have the ability to amend it. We have done so many times as times changed and certain rights needed to be address further. As SrA Eric Olsen is saying, I 100% disagree with your statement. As CPT Riley said, the Constitution and Bill of Rights are "living documents". It is also very dangerous to give up any one of the freedoms we enjoy under the Bill of Rights. Take away one and I have to wonder what will be taken away next.

Master Chief, the IRS Code and other working documents of the government are not a part of the Constitution and can be changed without much difficulty if Congress can work together. The IRS Code has gone too far. When did the IRS begin to use Gestapo tactics on American citizens...yes the IRS code needs to be revamped and their power lowered to that of a collection agency.
The Constitution itself is working just fine and provides us with the freest nation on the planet. I don't see the necessity to change that fact, but like you, I do see a need to rewrite the rules and regulations in many of the agencies. As a matter of fact, many of the agencies could be eliminated or merged into one. If you know the history, you understand that the only reason the CIA exists is because the various intelligent agencies of the military did not trust one another and would not share their information. I still wonder if the military intelligence branches report all their findings to the CIA as they are supposed to do. But you see, that has nothing to do with the Constitution, its is just more bureaucracy.

Sir, the times have indeed changed, but the threats the bill of rights protect us against are timeless and will never go away.

MAJ Mark Swanson Sir, I gotta ask, since you didn't reply to anyone's responses to your comment...
You're just kidding, right? Come on... You just toss a flash-bang out here and stand back to watch, right?
Good one (I hope...)
