Im leaving in August (of 2018)! I have no problem with needles, but I’ve heard that this is the worst.

Getting your immunizations is all part of becoming a soldier ,have no fear about shots,do have fear about your DIs ,I’ve been out since 1968 and I’m still scared of them, seriously you will hear many rumors and some outright lies about Basic ,listen and do your best you’ll be fine ,believe me.

I told my family that if my drill sergeant showed up at the front door, I'd run out the back into the woods and they'd be on their own. Finished basic in '84. Still scared of the man.

I remember getting it back in the day at Boot. It was 2 Million IU of Bicillin. The reason for the super heavy dose was to kill anything they didn't want to deal with or test everyone for. Problem was every now and then that dose was more than large enough to off a boot that never had it before, hence didn't know they had a reaction to it. They'd kill 2-3 recruits a year that way, but it was just considered a cost of doing business. And, you didn't want to be in the top rack the next morning. The landing was more than painful.

I didn't get it back in '08, but the amount of vaccines they did inject me with are enough to keep generations of my descendants immune from any known disease.
