I saw a news story on TV about Memorial Day, In it was an apparent female, a lot of he/shes running around, Her vest had an SF patch and a CIB. The only way I could figure, if she is female, would be an engagement team. I know SF can be awarded CIB.

Females have completed Special Forces training https://www.armytimes.com/news/your-army/2020/07/09/a-woman-became-a-green-beret-today-a-huge-milestone-for-the-army-and-the-military-but-she-isnt-the-first-female-to-earn-the-title/. To receive the CIB you must hold an Infantry or Special Forces MOS. There are females that hold those MOS so it is possible that females have earned the CIB. From my understanding all soldiers assigned to a Special Forces unit wear the Special Forces patch just like those who have completed the Q-course. The differences being the long tab the graduates wear in addition to the green beret.
New female Green Beret is a huge milestone, but she isn’t the first to earn the title

But would an engagement team member wear the SF patch? Only SF female that I know of is the late LTC Martha Raye. She had the full 5th Gp flash in the days of candy stripers. She is buried in the Fort Liberty Post Cemetery.

Martha Raye was an honorary Lt Col in the US Army and honorary Col in the USMC for her work with the USO from WWII onward. 5th SF Group made her an honorary SF member for her USO work in VietNam.

Entirely possible. There are more than one, Ranger, SF, hell I’ll bet even Delta-they just ain’t saying. If you are ever wondering, truly, you walk up shake their hands and say wow can you share your story so I can relay it to my female Soldiers. If someone is a fake their story won’t add up, training, combat role etc. if the are dumb enough to lie, they are too dumb to read regulation and policy.
But don’t go wrong into the conversation, you might get chewed up.

A tab or the shoulder patch of the Unit? As far as I know, only one female has made it through the Q-Course and that would be what it takes to be MOS qualified. Now there have been a number of women make it through Ranger School, which would get you an 11B MOS if you were going to an Infantry unit. There are also a number of women that have made it through Infantry OSUT. However, the CIB requires that you be MOS qualified in either 18 or 11 series, be serving in a position in one of those units brigade size or smaller. As far as I can find, no woman has been awarded a CIB. There a lot that have Combat Action Badges.

Shoulder path. If she was on an engagement team, could have been in a firefight with her ODA.
