I leave for BMT in a few weeks and I have chosen 19D as my MOS. I did not see Airborne on my contract, but I'm still questioning whether specific Scouts are chosen for jump school or if you earn the right. Please let me know, and added info/tips are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Airborne is not a basic requirement for the MOS. A person would have to apply for that in addition to regular training.

I always thought parachute riggers had to be airborne qualified. Something about jumping with the chutes they rigged. I could be wrong and that just a myth. Never looked into it.
As far as Cav Scouts, there are probably hundreds more non-airborne 19Ds than there are jump qualified ones.

I would not want to jump a chute that the person that packed it was not willing to Jump it. Yes Riggers in the 1975-1995 time frame had to be airborne?

riggers are still always airborne. that would be insane to have a parachute rigger not even know how to jump the chutes he or she packed
