SSgt Alex Robinson I'm not sure why this is news. We know that the asteroid belt contains every single element known to us, and maybe some that aren't. O2 would be no surprise, I would think. There'll be plenty of water, too. And metals. There's asteroids out there worth more than the entire economic output of the human race to date.

I'm no science geek. But according to the article, this is the first time O2 has ever been found in a comet. I would think that news worthy.

PO1 John Miller - Right. But we know that they're ALL there (after all, solar bodies formed from that detritus). So to me (I can be wrong, certainly), this is like saying 'there is dust on Mars'.
