Hi, you can actually leave DLI with an associates in that language. (they're trying to change it to a bachelors). If you don't have some college credits then there are a few tests you have to take to fill them in, but they're not bad and definitely worth it.
I am not a crypto linguist but im at DLI and almost all of my sergeants are. A few of them re-classed to it, a lot of them enjoy it and most love it. Not all of it is desk work and you can get into some really cool settings if you know what to look for.
You language will be chosen by your DLAB score. The higher it is, the harder the language, and the longer you'll be at DLI.
Goodluck to you! Feel free to ask anymore questions, everything is pretty fresh in my mind.

SPC Zach Fry - if you're going to DLI your contract has to extend 2 years *after* you graduate. So if you're re-enlisting to go to DLI and reclass. then that means language training and goodfellow. DLI languages can be anywhere from 36-64 weeks (and remember there is HBL, 4 day weekends, and class break so it ends up longer. There is also the risk of recycling). Goodfellow I believe is around an additional 4 months.
because of this most contracts are around 4-5 years

If your college accepts JSST credits you will earn language credits. A 35P is a signal analyst so if you enjoy sitting at a computer all day and working in a vault with no windows all day then it’s the job for you. Expect to receive Mandarin, Russian or Chinese for your language if you score high enough on the DLAB

Go airborne and you can stand a chance to avoid the vault. Group life provided me an amazing 5 years.

SSG (Join to see) 35P’s in Group still work in the vault, even those on the SOT-A’s. There is no such thing as a Special Operations Support MOS and all those support people eventually leave and go back to the rest of the Army. I can’t begin to tel you how many CMF25 and CMF35 guys have told me they are too special to leave group and they could never handle the regular army lol

SFC (Join to see) you are correct in that we still have to do work in a vault, it is nowhere near the same as being at the Agency unless you are stuck in the TCAE. I was a SOT-A at Group for over 5 years (I'm in the middle of a PCS back to the Agency), and was rarely trapped inside a vault. Granted, a lot of our training involves a Scif, we spend a lot of our time outdoors practicing our trade and working on incorporating ourselves with our customers.
I am one of those 35s that would tell you I'd never make it in the big army. In my 10+ years, I've yet to spend a full year on army installations. DLI is a college campus, NSA you're a civilian in an Army uniform, and group well, it's group lol.

I am a retired 98C with a language, 35N in today's jargon. It's a great Occupational Specialty. As can be seen in my profile, there are a great many job opportunities at every level within the Department of Defense.
Yes, you'll get college credits based of your performance coming out of DLI --
Go for it and good luck.
