See the attached letter that a friend of mine received. I honestly don't understand the scope/reach of the VA wrt firearms.
Has anyone else seen anything like this or know whether this is normal or authorized?

I have said for a while that the VA and or the federal government would use PTSD against veterans who want to own firearms. I am saddened to see that it has started.

MAJ Dallas D. I have a severe anxiety disorder although receiving nothing through the VA but I do get medical treatment and I take classes to mitigate anger and other things like depression, OCD, etc.

I am not surprised that the VA did this with this administration and their demagoguing this issue.

This is sickening. I have heard of several other instances like this but have never seen an actual letter. It's wrong on so many levels. The problem with the mental health aspect is they are applying it to personnel who are NOT any danger to anyone let alone themselves. The fact they use the "Brady Law" to infringe on others shows their true colors. The "law" (and I use that term very loosely) is a deliberate misnomer since there is no such thing as handgun violence.

I would agree with you completely. Its like if someone drinks and kills someone it's the misuse of alcohol that caused the death not alcohol violence.

It angers me that veterans are being singled out in this way. The VA arbitrarily decides a veteran isn't able to handle his or her issues, and takes rights away guaranteed by the constitution to all but convicted felons. So... at what point does military service equate to a felony conviction?
And for that matter, when rights are taken away from other citizens, it takes a jury, a judge, a court order.
Apparently, the VA thinks military service makes us somehow less even than convicted felons?
This is political, it's unconstitutional (regardless of whether any judge thinks veterans have "standing") and it's wrong.
My opinion. People at the VA need to go to prison a long time for this.
