I already receive Bah for single status in the states. I just had a newborn and finance DMPO told me I have to show proof of child support, such as an allotment, to obtain Bah with dependents rate. My girlfriend and newborn live with me... How does that make sense? They won't accept a notarized letter either. My name is on the birth certificate but that doesn't suffice. What gives?

Wouldn't entering the child into DEERS do the trick? They would ask for the kids social and birth certificate that would prove dependency.

You need to demonstrate proof by showing receipts for expenditures for the child like diapers, baby food formula, MD visits etc. It would not hurt to ask DMPO for a list of acceptable proof.

You should be able to fill out a 137-4 and/or court documented paternity to get the BAH.

I mentioned a paternity acknowledgement form and the finance person did not seem to care. That form was notarized after birth.

Fill out a DA 5960, attach all documents, submit it to pay. I don't know the reg off hand but my office process BAH. What I listed is all that is required.
