Does anyone know if Soldiers are allowed to get second jobs? Ive always heard that they can if it doesnt interfere with duties but I cannot find any regulation that covers it. All I can find is an old FM from 1991.

They can (as I've seen in the past) but usually there is a requirement to notify your company commander. In some cases, there may need to be a memo or documentation from the company allowing the Soldier to have a second job. Of course, this varies from unit to unit. Hope that helps.

I've seen this in the past at many duty stations. Some units require notifying the company commander beforehand though. I've seen memos requiring the CO's signature before a Soldier could get a second job. Of course, it varies from unit to unit. Hope this helps.

not sure about whats needed for the Army, but in the Marines, I just needed my immediate commands approval and me guarantee them that it would not interfere with my duties. When I was at the Pentagon I worked for a moving company on the side, the owners were prior military, and most of the other employees were current active or reserve members as well, I had a WO from the Army working under me until he got deployed.
