You would have to request a RFRAD, Release from Active Duty - from the AGR Program. It would have to be approved through your career manager and HRC. It is not a short process, and could take anywhere from 3 to 6 months.
It's all based on the needs of the Army Reserve, and it could be denied unless you have justifiable reasons (i.e. good ones, marriage or family issues)... to be released early from the AGR program.
If you are on your initial AGR tour of 3 years, they may just let that time expire and then give you orders at the end of the tour, REFRAD & returning you to your Home of Record.

I was told that you can apply for a REFRAD which is a Request From Active Duty and "if approved" youd go back to drilling status. The big question is the big "IF".
