I was put on orders three days after I dropped a reclassification packet. I submitted an FSTE but it was taking too long to get up my chain and to HRC. So I decided to just reenlist for Fort Riley for two years. The retention NCO told me after four months at my new post I will hit my window at 18 months and will be eligible for reenlistment again. But another NCO told me I would need to complete 12 months of time at my new post before being able to reenlist. Can anyone give me some guidance on this? I just want to reclass before I start getting pushed to go to the board and ALC to become a SSG and potentially being locked in a MOS I don't want to be in? New contract extends me to FY2023

They're both almost right. The reenlistment window is 15 months from ETS not 15. You might be eligible to reclass at that time. You have to be on station a year before you go to training. So, you can reenlist for training whenever you're in your window but your class date will be after you've been there a year.

Yep you can't PCS until you've done a year TOS, but that doesn't mean you can't get all the stuff needed ahead of time so you can leave once you hit that year mark...Unless you can get SECARMY to waive your TOS requirement......

Your best source of info is the unit Career Counselor. All others are just noise.
