I've been talking to a recruiter lately about switching for the Guard to Active and one of the things I'd really want is to go airborne. Does any one know if I'd be likely to get that in my contract if I'd switch?

Hell yeah you can! Unless, of course, you don't. It's always subject to the needs of the Army.

It is not guaranteed that you will get Airborne unless contracting into a MOS that requires Airborne such as parachute rigger or 18x, special forces candidate. Prior service are governed by the HRC business rules. Current rules can be found at:

This breaks down what MOSs you can retrain into based off of your rank. My advice is to pick a job you have interest in and worry about airborne later. Hope this helps.

You will not get airborne in your contract unless you are able to contract 18X ( SF Recruit )

Look on GOARMY.COM & search Prior Service Business rules first to see if you qualify. This list changes so keep checking. You’ll pick your job at MEPS, not with the Recruiter. You’ll need your 368 signed before you can start & you need to pull your most recent PHA from AKO as well as your promotion orders, etc from your iPERMS.
