FM 7-22: "A-41. Soldiers with temporary physical profiles must take a regular three event APFT after the profile has expired. Soldiers with temporary profiles of long duration (more than three months) may take an alternate aerobic event as determined by the commander with input from health-care personnel. Once the profile has been lifted, the Soldier must be given twice the length of the profile (not to exceed 90 days) to train for the regular three event APFT. If a regularly scheduled APFT occurs during the profile period, the Soldier should be given a mandatory make-up date for the APFT. " The way I read that, if you are on temporary profile of less than 90 days, you are not authorized to do an alternate event and therefore unable to take the APFT.

Your APFT goes by your profile. If it says you cannot do X events then you cannot do those events IE run or sit-ups. This means that they can assign alternate events that do not violate your profile.
If in doubt, check with the medics and your training nco.

FM 7-22 says that alternate events are only authorized for temp profiles in excess of 90 days. If your profile is for less than 90 days, you can't do the alternate event and therefore you can't do the APFT.

You will need to evaluate your profile restrictions, if it is not clear you should speak to whomever wrote the profile. There is in fact an authorization to take alternative events while in profile. Don’t listen to the barracks lawyers, see the medics.
Thank you for your service.

You should be able to walk in on sick call and have it reviewed by a medic on the spot. If you cannot get in then ask the IG to take a look, without prejudice (meaning, not a complaint just verifying the policy and the profile). For your safety and your standing you need answers before the test.
