I'm looking to enlist as a 17C as soon as I can, but I also want to push myself and take on all the challenges I can, I want to ask my recruiter to get Airborne school in my contract, is that doable? As well as is it possible to attend ranger school even tho my MOS isn't a ranger MOS?

Yes, you absolutely can as long as your unit is able to send you. On the Ranger school website you can even find a copy of the exception memo that allows non combat MOS to attend. I went while I was a 92G and I have a friend in there right now who is a 29E

Unfortunately right now, no. They haven’t opened up any schools to 17C. When I asked about it I was told it would be 2-3 years until we were allowed to go to any schools but that could change soon.

Go to the 75th ranger section at goarmy, and see if 17C is a MOS in the Regiment. If so, request a option 40 17C contract and don’t sign anything no matter what the recruiter tells you until you see it on your contract.

Pretty much. But Option 40 are used for newly enlisted. Not Reclass individuals. 17C isn’t a combat MOS so unless your a female soldier being used as a political agenda, your chances of going to ranger school are slim to known. Maybe choosing a different MOS might be bette choice if you really want that ranger status.

As long as I qualify I'd rather not have the ranger school and still get the MOS because of the career opportunities, if I have to choose another MOS it will be something with an option 40.
