I already looked/read AR 600-20 and couldn’t find anything regarding the matter but was told previously by a different NCO that they are not allowed and wanted to back it up with the regulation.

To whatever NCO 'previously' told you that they were not allowed? They are full of crap. There is no regulation that you will find that says they can or cannot. At PT it is extra PT.
An NCO or Officer can take that group, squad, platoon, company etc out and do PT pretty much as they see fit as long as the exercise itself falls within the PT guidelines. They can run a mile, five miles, seven miles.... do one push-up or smoke you until you fall to muscle exhaustion.

Here's a thought... just do it and be done with it, its good for you. Unless you are currently maxing both the apft and acft, you complaining about having to "do extra pt" is a pretty mute point.
I got the dog S... smoked out of me in the rain because I didn't memorize a song by the end of the week that the PSG told me to memorize. You know what I did, got smoked while a different guy played the song on repeat, memorized it, went back inside and sang it. I have now always carried that lesson of respecting the rank/orders of an individual.

WO1 (Join to see) - LOL, alright. Sounds like you mastered the task...much to everyone's displeasure, including your own! And here I was wondering if you PSG wanted you to lead a running cadence with the SpongeBob theme or something. ;-)

Jesus wept, you can exceed standards, following the minimums in the service will get you killed or someone who has to cover for your failures. The is nothing in the regs concerning training to higher standards. Folks should be crying that an older, battle worn, dinged up NCO is beating their lil bodies and is still going.

Can add to, not take away. Everywhere I went the bar was raised as it should have been. Who wants bare minimum! Well said SGM
