Can an Army Reserve Soldier transfer to the Air Force Reserve? If I were interested, how would I initiate that?

Talk to a recruiter at the unit you want to go to. We don’t have warrants so you are hosed there. So its either enlisted for you or you’d have to switch to officer. (The recruiter would tell you what is involved but might involve going to ots) i think the form is dd form 368 the conditional release form but you have to have the place you are going to and the position number first for that. I was in a unit that a guy came army warrant helicopter pilot and became a tsgt flight engineer on a c130, so, it can be done.

It may not technically be a "transfer" but you can leave the Army Reserve and enter the USAFR. I went from Army to Army Guard to Air Guard to Air Reserve in my career. I am pretty sure I had to exit each service to enter the new one. Speaking with the recruiter is the first step to insure there is a slot for you and your skills.
